Podiums Elite pour les pilotes CLS
Avec une seconde place pour Gregory Aranda en MX1 et une troisième pour Steven Frossard en MX2, les pilotes du team CLS sont tous deux montés sur le podium final du Championnat de France Elite, à l’issue de la dernière épreuve organisée ce week-end à Iffendic (Bretagne)
Cadre dans les années 80 de plusieurs épreuves du championnat du Monde, Iffendic est un circuit plus propice aux 450 qu’aux 250 avec de nombreuses et longues montées. En lice pour le titre MX1 avec David Vuillemin, Gregory Aranda était le seul à pouvoir barrer la route de ‘DV12’ en quête d’un sixième titre et tout au long du week-end Greg donna son maximum pour résorber son retard. Troisième de la première manche, il perdait gros peu après le second départ quand sa pédale de frein arrière cassait ; gérant ce handicap au mieux il rejoignait l’arrivée en cinquième position, et abordait l’ultime manche avec 20 points de retard sur Vuillemin. Réussissant son meilleur départ du week-end, il était à la lutte pour la victoire avec Nicolas Aubin quand un attardé croisait sa trajectoire et le faisait chuter ! Reparti second avec une moto abîmée, Greg allait à nouveau chuter à dix minutes de l’arrivée et se classait quatrième de la manche. Vuillemin chutant et abandonnant, Greg termine vice-champion de France à deux petits points de son rival.
Dans la catégorie MX2 personne n’a pu barrer la route de Musquin, de retour à la compétition. Handicapé comme tous les pilotes 250 par une ligne de départ composée de terre meuble absorbant de la puissance, Steven allait être pris dans une chute à deux départs, la première fois dans la poussière et la seconde sur une portion très arrosée ! Douzième et septième des deux premières manches malgré une douleur à la cheville, Steven faisait la dernière manche au coude à coude avec Gautier Paulin jusqu’à ce qu’un allumage défaillant le contraigne à l’abandon. Il se classe troisième du championnat, alors que Loic Rombaut prend lui la septième place ; mal placé sur la grille et enfermé aux départs Loic ira ‘crescendo’ en se classant seizième, onzième et enfin dixième des manches.
Gregory Aranda : ‘ Dans la dernière manche j’ai donné tout ce que je pouvais, j’avais 30 points de retard sur David et je devais gagner pour avoir une petite chance de titre. Je suis revenu juste derrière Aubin, mais un attardé m’a coupé la trajectoire alors que j’allais l’attaquer ; je suis tombé, j’ai tordu le guidon mais je suis quand même reparti second, jusqu’à ce que je chute une nouvelle fois. Je suis reparti sixième, revenu quatre, mais même si David n’a pas fini la course il me manque deux points pour être champion’
Steven Frossard: ‘Ce fut un week-end difficile pour moi, avec notamment deux chutes au départ ; la première en qualification, ou je suis revenu sixième ce qui m’a donné une position correcte sur la grille, puis la seconde au premier départ. Je n’étais pas assez concentré en course, pour des raisons personnelles, et il n’y a qu’en dernière manche que je me suis senti bien. J’étais en bagarre avec Paulin quand j’ai eu ce problème d’allumage qui m’a contraint à l’abandon. Je ne suis pas trop déçu du résultat final, après ma chute à la première épreuve qui m’a couté trois résultats blancs je savais que ce serait difficile de garder mon titre’
Loic Rombaut: ‘Ma qualification s’est mal passée, j’ai été pris à deux reprises dans une chute; en course cela s’est mieux passé, même si j’ai eu beaucoup de soucis aux départs compte tenu de ma mauvaise place et de la texture du sol. En première manche j’ai eu du mal à prendre un bon rythme, cela a été mieux pour les autres courses ou je termine onze et dix’
Jean Jacques Luisetti: ‘ On est bien sûr déçus puisqu’on ne gagne aucun titre à Iffendic, mais c’est la course ! Greg ne termine qu’à deux points de David, mais gagner le titre sur une chute de David ne m’aurait pas satisfait. Greg a fait une excellente troisième manche, mais ce n’est pas là qu’il a perdu le titre et la course a encore prouvé qu’il fallait toujours y croire jusqu’au bout. Steven n’était pas dans un bon jour, il a toujours des soucis avec sa cheville et les choses se sont mal enchainées pour lui en course avec ces deux chutes et enfin ce problème technique’

With a second position for Gregory Aranda in the MX1 class and a third one for Steven Frossard in the MX2 category, the CLS riders both claimed a podium in the French series after the last round organized this weekend in Iffendic (Brittany)
Former GP track with many uphill’s in favor of the 450 machineries, Iffendic met the sixth and last round of the French Elite Championship. Second in the MX1 standings behind David Vuillemin, Gregory Aranda was the last rival of the French veteran and gave his best this weekend during all the races. Third of the first heat, Greg damaged his rear brake pedal at the beginning of the second heat and was pretty lucky to finish in fifth position in these conditions! Greg got his best start in the final heat, and was battling for the win with Nicolas Aubin when a lapper came on his line! Greg crashed and damaged the bike, but was till second before crashing another time ten minutes from the end of the race. Finally fourth of the moto, he finishes only two points in the standings behind Vuillemin who didn’t finish the race after a crash in the last minutes.
In the MX2 class, Steven Frossard was unable this weekend to beat Musquin, coming back to racing with a high motivation. With many long uphill’s and a soft starting area the track was much better for the 450 than the 250 bikes, and Steven had troubles with two start crashes, the first one in the dust and the second one on a wet section! Coming back twelfth and seventh despite a painful ankle, Steven was battling with Paulin during the last heat when he was forced to retire with a technical problem. Steven is third of the series, whilst Loic Rombaut finishes in seventh position. With a bad position on the grid Loic struggled at the starts but improved his results through the event with a sixteenth, an eleventh and a tenth position.
Gregory Aranda : ‘ In the last race I gave everything, I was twenty points behind David and I had to win this race to keep a chance for the title. I came back second really close to Aubin and was ready to attack him when a lapper made a bad move and pushed me. I crashed but was still second when I came back in the race, pushed again but my handle bar was bent and I made another crash. I was sixth, came back fourth but even if David didn’t finished the race I missed two points for the title.’
Steven Frossard: ‘It was a tough weekend for me; I crashed twice at the start, the first one in the qualifying race and the second time at the first start. I came back sixth in qualification so my position for the start was not too bad, but today I was not enough focused on the race, for personal reasons. I was stronger in the last race, I was racing with Paulin but I had a technical problem and retired. I’m not too disappointed with my third place in the series, after a big crash at the first race I missed three races and I knew that I lost my chances there’
Loic Rombaut: ‘My qualifying race was difficult with two crashes during the opening lap of the qualifying race, today was better but the start was difficult for a 250 as the starting area was soft. I didn’t found a good rhythm in the first race and finished sixteenth; I felt better for the others with an eleventh and then tenth position, for a seventh position overall in the series’
Jean Jacques Luisetti: ‘We could get two titles today and we don’t win any, that’s racing and we’ll try again next season! Greg finishes only two points behind Vuillemin but after David’s crash we couldn’t enjoy a title if we got it. Steven was not in a great day here, he has always troubles with his ankle and then was unlucky with two crashes and a problem with the ignition during the last race’
