Après un break de cinq semaines le championnat de France Elite a repris à Plomion (Aisne), ou une fois de plus Gregory Aranda et Steven Frossard ont été deux des grands animateurs de la course. Seconds et troisièmes de l’épreuve, ils ont tous deux consolidé leur position au championnat et ont superbement réagit après le décevant GP du Benelux.
Après avoir disputé quatre GP au cours des cinq dernières semaines, les pilotes Français étaient de retour dans l’hexagone pour la quatrième des six épreuves de l’Elite. Sur la piste crayeuse et au sol dur de Plomion les pilotes Français ont reçu un chaleureux accueil du nombreux public, qui a eu le plaisir d’assister à de superbes courses.
Pour la troisième fois de la saison Gregory Aranda a dominé tous ses rivaux durant la première manche, ou il signa le holeshot avant de résister au héros local Cyril Coulon qui finira par faire quelques erreurs. D’entrée de jeu positionné dans le groupe de tête Steven Frossard s’est bagarré toute la manche durant avec les 450 de Greg, Vuillemin et Coulon, signant le second temps de la manche – à seulement vingt quatre centièmes de Coulon – pour prendre une superbe seconde place derrière son équipier. Steven Frossard: ‘C’est super de revenir à seulement quinze points de Musquin au championnat, j’espère simplement que je vais désormais connaitre un peu plus de réussite en Elite comme en Grands Prix. J’ai bien récupéré de mon coup de fièvre, et j’ai toujours été en lutte pour une marche du podium excepté en seconde manche ou j’ai pris un mauvais départ. Il était important de réussir cette épreuve, j’y signe mon meilleur résultat Elite sans faire d’erreurs et j’espère vivre un week-end similaire la semaine prochaine au Portugal’
Gregory Aranda: ‘Ca fait du bien au moral d’avoir un tel week-end, et j’espère que c’est un déclic y compris au niveau des GP. J’ai fait le meilleur temps de toutes les séances d’essais, et hormis en seconde manche j’ai pris de très bons départs ici à Plomion. Il n’y a pas grand-chose à dire de la première manche, dans la seconde je suis revenu de la douzième à la quatrième place et je suis assez content de moi dans la mesure où il n’était pas aisé de doubler sur cette piste glissante. En dernière manche on s’est bien battu avec David, tout allait très bien pour moi jusqu’à cette petite chute à cinq minutes de l’arrivée. Il a gagné mais ce fut une bonne journée et je vais partir confiant au Portugal ou je vise un top dix’
Loic Rombaut: ‘Je connais cette piste puisque l’an passé j’y ai dispute une manche du championnat d’Europe, et mentalement cela fait du bien d’obtenir de bons résultats. J’ai raté mon départ dans chacune des manches, on a du changer de couronne tellement la piste était rapide et je ne suis plus habitué à partir sur le premier rapport. Ensuite je suis revenu au fil des manches pour me classer à trois reprises dans le top ten, il n’y avait pas beaucoup d’endroits pour dépasser mais j’ai réussi à trouver mon chemin. J’ai eu un bon feeling avec la piste et la moto tout au long du weekend, j’espère maintenant qu’il en sera de même sur les GP à venir’
Philippe Vandevoorde: ‘Après Valkenswaard nous avons avec Jean Jacques réuni tout le staff pour rappeler à chacun nos objectifs, et c’est un réel plaisir de voir comment chacun a réagit ce week end. Steven et Gregory ont quasiment réussi un week-end parfait et ont donné le meilleur d’eux mêmes Durant toutes les courses, alors que Loic a lui aussi réussi une grande performance et confirmé son potentiel. Nous plaçons deux pilotes sur le podium, voyons Steven se replacer dans la course au titre, nos trois garçons sont dans le top sept de l’épreuve, c’est un super week-end pour le team. Nous souhaitons dédier cette performance à notre entraineur Ben Contigliani, qui a eu la douleur de perdre sa mère ce week-end’

Second and third overall, they secured their positions in the standings and had a strong reaction after the disappointing GP of Benelux.
After four GP’s within the past five weeks it was time to race at home for the French riders, who travelled to North of France for the fourth of the six events Elite series. On the hard and chalky track of Plomion home of a MX3 GP last year they were supported by a huge crowd, which was pleased to see great racing during the three heats.
For the third time this season Gregory Aranda dominates all his rivals during the opening race, where he grabbed the holeshot and then resisted to the assaults of local hero Cyril Coulon who will do later several mistakes. Steven Frossard: ‘It’s a good feeling to be back only fifteen points behind Musquin, let’s hope that now I will be luckier with my performances in the French Elite as well as the GP’s. I recovered from my illness and was always racing for the podium in Plomion, except during the second heat when I got a bad start. It was important to avoid any mistake here, I got my best result of the season and hope to do similar in Portugal next weekend’
Gregory Aranda: ‘It’s good for the mental to have such a good weekend, and I hope it will be a mark of the season including in the GP series. I was the fastest in all the practice sessions, and except in the second race I got very good start here in Plomion. There’s nothing to say about my first heat, then in the second I came back from twelfth to fourth and I was satisfied as it was not so easy to pass on this slippery layout. In the third race we had great moments with David, and it was perfect for me until the last five minutes, when I did a small mistake and crashed. He got the win, but I will fly optimistic to Portugal as this race proved that I have the speed and condition to race for a top ten result on a hard surface’
Loic Rombaut: ‘I knew this track since last year as I raced the European series here, and it’s mentally important to have some good results. I missed a good start in all the races, we have changed the settings of the bike on this fast track and I was not used anymore to start in first gear. I did three consistent races to come back in the top ten, I felt well on this track and I had a good physical condition all weekend long. There were not so many lines to pass, but I found some places to do it and I expect to get some good results in the following GP’s’
Philippe Vandevoorde: ‘After Valkenswaard we had a meeting with our staff to remind them our goals, and we are pleased to see that all of them had a strong reaction this weekend. Steven and Gregory had nearly a perfect weekend and gave their best during all the races, while Loic also did a strong performance and confirmed his potential. We have two riders on the podium, Steven is back in the battle for the title, our three guys are in the top seven of the event, and it’s a great weekend for the team. We’d like to dedicate this performance to our trainer Ben Contigliani, whose mother passed away this weekend’
